Netflix is working on 90 new games including Squid Game

Streaming huge Netflix continues to make headway into the gaming market with 86 games accessible to subscribers at the end of this year.

A blog post on the subject announced that 40 of these games will be released this year, including the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy. and that with nearly 90 additional games being developed, the company is "just getting off the ground".

The post goes on to mention Cosy Grove: Camp Spirit, FashionVerse, Game Dev Tycoon, as well as Sonic Mania Plus as its four biggest titles coming soon.

The primary issue Netflix faced with is the ability to play every game on mobile devices. However, the company claims to have, "Taken the first step toward our long-term goal of making games playable on every device by rolling out a testing program for games on both computers and televisions in the US, UK and Canada. We'll continue to roll this experience out to other countries and introduce more games for testing as we go.

Squid Game continues to be an international phenomenon thanks to the popularity of the show and the reality TV contest based on it performing extremely well. There isn't much information provided by Netflix regarding the show right currently, but the blog post will end with, "A game set in the world of Squid Game, in which you can compete with other players on the hit series."

Season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge's reality TV version was just ordered according to Brandon Rigg, Netflix VP of nonfiction. He declared "There was no red flag in our decision to allow season two of Squid Game: The Challenge which is the most ambitious and unscripted show that we've aired on Netflix."

The company also revealed earlier this month its intention to expand into the live sports streaming market.
